Why do so many people think that self sufficient and/or survival oriented people are nuts and kooks?

maybe because it brings to mind skinning a buck, or sleeping in a tent. A little differnetn than the routine of putting money in a rainy day fund, or lacing up New Balance for a little jog. You just have a better purpose to run when being chased by a bear. then again you are in a city of anarchy maybe, a disturbing thought. many times people facilitate just what they are preparing for. think about it that Mcdonalds came from a preeetyy uncivilized palace
